Object Relations Theory: A Primer for Rehabilitation Psychologists

Object Relations (OR) has been identified as one of the four major schools psychoanalysis. This article provides a comprehensive review OR practice and theory in context rehabilitation psychology. Extensive data are presented on five most prominent pioneer object relations theorists, including Melanie Klein, W. R. D. Fairbairn, Michal Balint, Harry Guntrip, Winnicott. All these individuals have contributed significantly to theory. Klein D Fairbairn credited with founding perspective, Michael Balint touted leading theorist, Guntrip was analyzed by both Winnicott, D.W.
